Creating social value through the development of the Lea Bridge Station Sites

We are aiming to achieve this by supporting actions and initiatives focused on improving the wellbeing of the existing and future Lea Bridge community.

We have been developing our ideas for social value initiatives that benefit the local community for many months, starting with identifying specific local needs and assessing appropriate responses.

The types of initiatives we are currently exploring include:

• New apprenticeships, paid work experience, and permanent jobs for local people through the construction and, eventually, the operation of the proposed development
• Free-to-access training opportunities for local residents, including BTEC, NVQ and HNC courses
• The use of local businesses in the construction and, eventually, the operation of the proposed development
• Supporting community services and activities, for example services for local young people and initiatives aimed at reducing local antisocial behaviour and crime through establishing a ‘Community Hub’
• Establishing a local initiative providing low-cost fresh produce

Working with the Lea Bridge community

We have a responsibility to engage with the Lea Bridge community. We want to work with you to build an understanding of how our project can make a positive impact on the lives of local people in the long term.

We want to hear your thoughts on what local social needs you think we should prioritise and will use the information to inform our efforts on generating social value.

Ultimately by creating social value through the proposals for the Lea Bridge Station sites, we hope to create a positive knock-on impact across the wider Lea Bridge area for years to come.
