Sustainable networks/connections
We have identified an opportunity to promote active and sustainable means of travel (e.g. walking and cycling) by creating a car-free development. The only car parking will be a number of accessible car-parking spaces for people with disabilities.
A car-free development will help realise our vision for the developments as a new, safe place to live, shop, and socialise. A key consideration of our proposals for the Lea Bridge Station sites is to create routes through the three sites that support safe pedestrian access in the local area.
Servicing
Each site will have a dedicated off-street area for deliveries and servicing. This will ensure these activities can be conducted safely off the main highway, reducing the risk of causing obstructions or contributing to congestion.
Station Cycle Hub
Equally, we want to create integrated and prominent cycle facilities to complement the council’s ‘Enjoy Waltham Forest’ cycle scheme and the proposed cycleway between Dalston and Lea Bridge. There will be a new Station Cycle Hub delivered as part of the station redevelopment proposals.
Within the proposed buildings there will be long-stay cycle parking (over 600 spaces across all three sites) and specialised cycle cleaning areas and ‘end of trip’ facilities for use by the commercial areas of the building.
